Who is responsible

MATCHKLUS is the controller for the personal data described here. Contact details for privacy questions are on the contact page.

You always have the right to complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch data protection authority.

What we hold, and why

We collect only what the platform needs to work:

• Account: your email address, password (stored only as a hash we cannot reverse), name, language, and whether you registered as a private individual or a business.
• Profile: anything you choose to add — a photo, a description, an hourly rate, a phone number, the tools you own.
• Location: your latest position, and the position of each job you post. We keep the latest one, never a history of where you have been.
• Activity: the jobs you posted, the Hellos you sent, your matches, your messages, and reviews you gave or received.
• Crossings: which jobs came near you, how close, and how often. These are deleted after 30 days.

Location, specifically

Other members never see your exact position. Distances are shown in bands — "under 100 m", "about 250 m" — and map pins are deliberately shifted by up to 150 metres in a fixed direction, so a pin cannot be averaged back to an address.

The exact street address of a job is released only when both members have accepted each other.

We never track you in the background. Your position updates only while the app is open and only if you have given the browser permission.

You can set your location to approximate, or hide yourself from the map, in your profile.

Photos

Every uploaded image is re-encoded on our server, which removes the embedded metadata. That matters: a photo taken on a phone usually carries the GPS coordinates of the place it was taken, which for a job photo is somebody’s home.

Our lawful basis

We process your account, profile, job and message data to perform the agreement between you and MATCHKLUS.

We process location data on the basis of your consent, which you give through the browser permission and can withdraw at any time.

We process reports, blocks and moderation records on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping members safe.

Who else sees it

Other members see your name, photo, description, rating and an approximate distance. They see your phone number and the exact address only after a confirmed match.

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

Our suppliers — hosting, email delivery, map tiles, push notifications — process data on our instructions only. Hosting is in the Netherlands.

How long we keep it

Account and profile data: while your account exists, then removed or anonymised.

Crossings: 30 days.

Messages and reviews: while the account exists, because the other member has an interest in them too.

Reports and moderation records: kept after an account closes, for as long as they may be needed.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and take it elsewhere.

Export and deletion are available from your profile. Ask us and we will respond within one month.
